Hurricane Tony blows through FRE!
Once again Hurricane Tony made landfall and blew through Forest Ridge Elementary and caused a ton of damage to dozens of student built homes which students worked on for weeks. As an extension of 5th grade academic standards, 5th graders created structures to withstand a mock hurricane. Mr. Mattingly has been teaching them the weather aspect of hurricanes. They took that knowledge and created structures of all types to withstand winds (leaf blower) and large amounts of rain (garden hose) and then the finale - a giant levy break.
