Hello school community

Dear Forest Ridge Families,

We are up and running at Forest Ridge Elementary, and the 2025–2026 school year is successfully underway! Students are learning routines and expectations, engaging in their work, and becoming reacclimated to school life.

We look forward to building a strong and productive partnership with you to ensure every child reaches their highest potential. We know that for students to thrive, they need support from both home and school. Together, we share the responsibility for their success, and we are committed to doing our very best to fulfill ours.

We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he or she:
  1. Arrives to school on time, ready for the day’s learning.
  2. Completes all homework assignments.
  3. Reads daily to foster a love of reading and strengthen literacy skills.
  4. Shares school experiences with you to keep you connected to their school life.
  5. Lets you know if additional help is needed in any subject area.
  6. Understands that you expect them to succeed in school.
I also encourage you to join our PTA and take part in the wonderful opportunities to support our school community. Together, we can make this a successful and rewarding 2025–2026 school year.

Sincerely,
Michelle McHugh
Principal

Forest Ridge Elementary School is proud that all teachers and administrators who work with our students are certified by the State of Florida or other governing board. We appreciate the following teachers who have volunteered to teach a subject outside of their primary certification and are currently taking classes to obtain certification in the area they are teaching out-of-field. Each of these teachers has both experience and coursework in the area they are teaching. They are excellent teachers and we appreciate the extra effort they are putting forth on behalf of our students.

Guidance Corner

Our resiliency focus through early September is Self-Awareness and Self-Management—understanding our thoughts, actions, and impact on others. Next, we’ll focus on Responsibility, which can look like:
  • Owning my actions and practicing self-control
  • Following rules and directions
  • Expressing needs in healthy ways (eye contact, asking for help)
  • Working well with others (listening, cooperating, taking turns)
  • Taking responsibility for mistakes and showing courage to do what’s right
If your family could benefit from Blessings in a Backpack, Christmas Assistance, or you have other concerns, please reach out to me anytime via Parent Square or email.
Thank you for partnering with us in helping students grow in resilience and responsibility! – Ms. Mikel

A note from your PE teachers-

Parents, Please be aware of the days your child has P.E. class
and help them to dress accordingly.
Proper footwear/attire for P. E. class:
· Tennis shoes/Sneakers
· School appropriate Top
· Shorts/Pants/Capri pants
If girls choose to wear dresses/skirts; they must wear shorts underneath

For safety reasons, we discourage students from wearing:
Sandals, dress shoes, flip-flops, & and footwear that may impede the ability for safe movement(s)

Students are also encouraged to bring water bottles (labeled with your child’s name) containing only water (please, no flavored water) for PE class to help keep your child hydrated.

Accommodation Statement

If you, or anyone you know, requires reasonable accommodations at any of our school events because of a disability or physical impairment, please contact Mercedes Rushmore at 527-1808 Ext. 5007.

Fund Raiser

FRE sponsors several fundraisers each year, for different purposes. Profits from fundraising at FRE will be used, among other things, to purchase school wide needs, such as additional playground equipment, technology supplies, and instructional materials. A small amount of these funds may be used to provide food and other consumable items for faculty and staff sessions throughout the year, staff appreciation and student recognition. Some fundraisers are for specific purposes such as Kids Heart Challenge. We are always mindful that these are optional for students and are deeply appreciative of the support of the FRE community.
