Volunteer and Mentor Program

Volunteers and Mentors

At Forest Ridge Elementary we are always looking for volunteers and mentors.

All volunteers must be trained through the Citrus County School Board and go through a background check.

To sign up for the next training contact:

Shannon OBerg at 726-1931, ex 2233

For Volunteer Questions at Forest Ridge, Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator.

All trainings are in the basement conference room at the DSC.

What is the difference between a volunteer and a mentor? A mentor may work with the same child on academic or social issues for more than one year. Volunteers are assigned to a staff member and may work with students, teachers, or do clerical work.

Can I volunteer in my child's classroom? At Forest Ridge we do not allow parents or family members to volunteer in their own child's classroom. If you have questions regarding this, please contact Michelle McHugh, principal.
